There is great value in little reminders!
I just finished a month-long Bible study with my buddies, and we plowed through the book of Proverbs. I have been there before … in fact, I start the year reading the Proverbs.
Little reminders that deliver life-changing realities.
This Bible study was comprised of friends who graduated with me from Campus High School … in 1972!
It felt surreal actually.
Their stories of redemption, deliverance, and soul healing were incredible and clearly, it was a grace intervention at the highest level.
I still marvel at all that the Father did for His sons.
I made my commitment to Christ in 1970. I was all-in but I was also deeply challenged. I did not know how to share Christ, and I did not want to preach to my buddies either, so I simply decided to show kindness and do good to them.
It was not much of a plan, but it taught me a great life lesson that I want to share with you.
Stay Engaged In Doing Good … Give What You Can And Do What You Should
Well, I did say that it was not much of a plan!
I was clearly playing the long game, but I felt like this was something that I could do, and I just believed that God could and would do the rest.
I was also following a very specific biblical directive, Hebrews 13:16 and here is what we are told, “Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have because God is pleased with these kinds of sacrifices.”
I do love this verse but honestly, there are reminders of this directive throughout the biblical record … literally from the beginning until the end.
No action of mine was a big deal which is why I describe it as I do.
Stay Engaged In Doing Good … Give What You Can And Do What You Should
I showed up every day, stayed engaged, gave what I could, and did what I should.
I was planting seeds knowing that it would do my buddies good. I did not how that would happen or when it would happen, I just believed that the seed would one day bear its fruit.
This truth is repeated over and over again … and it will never fail!
So, stay engaged in doing good …
▪ so many hearts have been broken, and so much life still needs to be spoken
▪ stand with those who need a friend and may that commitment never end
▪ stand strong and seek to right every wrong
▪ find a way to put hope on display
As a 16-year-old kid, I stepped up and did all that I knew to do, and I do marvel at all that has transpired over the last 52 years.
Stay Engaged In Doing Good … Give What You Can And Do What You Should
I know there is power in this, and I also know that this is pleasing to the Father.
I know I am in …. and you?
