I am in a season of “celebrating friends!”
Ruthanne and I are on a year-long quest of reconnecting with friends who have openly shared life and ministry with us and who do occupy space in the deepest parts of our hearts.
Our lives have been shaped by the people we have come to know and by the places we were allowed to go. We have served in some very special places and have been privileged to be a part of some amazing faith communities.
One of our greatest joys in all of this is having this specific reality powerfully revealed to us …
An Enduring Friendship … Makes All Of Life So Much Better
We have enjoyed significant family connections which have allowed us to bring family members closer to us than ever before.
Both Ruthanne and I had what we have called “Gen 3” reunions.
We remember our grandparents (we call them Gen 1) having family gatherings, our parents, (Gen 2) did the same … and now it is our turn, as Gen 3 to keep our generation connected and to set up Gen 4 and 5 for the same.
This is very important to us and we know that there is great enduring value in maintaining these connections.
We have also been inspired to create moments that would allow us to physically connect with friends who we cherish and dearly love.
Our hearts have been encouraged, our faith has been enlivened and our spirits have been engaged anew by all that we have been enjoying.
There is no doubt that …
An Enduring Friendship … Makes All Of Life So Much Better
Mary Fairchild, in her article, “16 Bible Verses About Friendship”, says this, “Christian friendships are one of the greatest blessings of God.” She then goes on to provide clear and convincing evidence that affirms the value of a true and lasting friendship.
It is a great read … so do check it out here!
She also quotes Donald W. McCullough from his book, ‘Mastering Personal Growth’, “When we consider the blessings of God — the gifts that add beauty and joy to our lives, that enable us to keep going through stretches of boredom and even suffering — friendship is very near the top.”
This perfectly expresses what we are experiencing!
An enduring friendship is truly the gift of a lifetime …
▪ and is one of life’s greatest treasures
▪ and each one is so unique and special
▪ and in every season it makes a difference
▪ and the joy it brings is priceless
▪ and it remains safe and stable
▪ and it grows more precious with time
I know this true … and can affirm that biblically and attest to it personally.
An Enduring Friendship … Makes All Of Life So Much Better
It really does!
I am all in on this … and you?
