Our complete confidence in Christ will never suffer loss.
In every circumstance or situation, Christ will always be more than enough.
I love the Colossians 1:15-20 narrative because it so powerfully articulates the realities that are embedded in the sufficiency and supremacy of Christ.
Every declaration is intended to encourage those who put their faith in Christ, to exalt Christ in the highest manner and to put an end to the fierce debates about Him, as well as to the false accusations towards Him … that were occurring then and continue to be in play today!
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. (Colossians 1:15-20)
Truly, this resounding message is as relevant today as it was when Paul first proclaimed it.
Christ Above, Christ Alone, Christ In All … His Sufficiency and Supremacy Will Always Prevail
Pastor Chris Williams from Fellowship Church echoes this for us in his article, “Supremacy of Christ”.
“Colossians 1:15-20 contains one of the earliest Christian hymns packed with reverence for Christ and profound theological truth. It focuses on His unique person and work, highlighting the complete and utter sufficiency of Jesus. At the heart of the Christ hymn Paul makes the ultimate statement for Christ’s all supremacy: “He himself will come to have first place in everything.” Jesus Christ is Lord over little and big things, over the past, present, and future and over things seen and unseen.”
When we take this proclamation to heart, our faith experience and expectation will be elevated, and we will enter into a profound position in Christ, sincerely more profound than we have previously known.
Christ Above, Christ Alone, Christ In All … His Sufficiency and Supremacy Will Always Prevail
Consider these words and take them to heart as never before.
Words of life that re-establish, renew, and restore!
No matter what comes our way … Christ will always be more than enough. He cannot be conquered or cast down, overplayed, or overwhelmed … there is nothing greater, He has no equal!
Christ Above, Christ Alone, Christ In All … His Sufficiency and Supremacy Will Always Prevail
So, it is … and so shall it ever be!
I am in … and you?
