The Promise Of New Mercies … Allows The Amen To Be Declared Again And Again

This week my heart was prompted to consider again these rich, life-giving words … words of transformation, for Jeremiah and for us.

Here are his words … “But this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.” (Lamentations 3:21-24)

The Promise Of New Mercies … Allows The Amen To Be Declared Again And Again

The truth is that these words of Jeremiah were spoken at a time when he was in a place of deep grief and sorrow.

Pastor Chuck Smith describes that moment this way, “Jeremiah had seen the streets of Jerusalem full of people. He had watched the worshippers at the temple. He had seen the pilgrims gather for their feasts, but now it’s all silent. Now it’s empty and the ways or the paths on the way to Jerusalem are mourning because no one is coming to the solemn feasts anymore, all of her gates are desolate.”

Jeremiah was truly shattered … but God found a way to refresh Jeremiah’s spirit, to renew his heart and to restore peace in his mind and … what worked for him, will indeed work for us.

The Promise Of New Mercies … Allows The Amen To Be Declared Again And Again

Debbie McDaniel, in her article, “His Mercies Are New Every Morning” reminds us of these great realities,

“God reminds us of this powerful promise in His Word that offers peace to our hearts in hard seasons. It was written for His people when times were very difficult. It gives us great hope in the battles we face today, like rays of light breaking through the darkest night. For just as sure as the sun comes up every morning, we can be confident that His mercies never end. They are never based on how good we are, but only on His steadfast character. His compassion towards us is fresh every morning, and each day is a gift straight from His hand. We can trust His heart for us.”

This is so powerfully spoken!

The Promise Of New Mercies … Allows The Amen To Be Declared Again And Again

God has good plans for all of us and His promises are ours … to the glory of His name! We can claim them and confess them boldly because they are entirely true!

The truth is that all of God’s promises are yes and amen in Christ. Knowing this and believing this changes everything!

Now more than ever before, we need to embrace these great promises and make our stand on their veracity … because in doing this, we will have the victory!

I know I am in … and you?
