Finding Balance And Buoyancy In Tough Times

The reality that we will face “tough moments and turbulent times” is well documented in the scriptures. Hopefully, we have understood this and have become profoundly convinced of this truth. It is not intended to be a threat … though it may feel that way at times.

This is a prophetic promise that should drive us to intentional preparation! We will need to contend with this … over and over again.

Here are the two verses that are ever-present in my spirit …

▪ “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
▪ “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.” (2 Timothy 3:1)
These verses confirm to us that we should prepare ourselves to secure a place in Christ where we can attain the stability needed to take on all that is required of us.

Finding Balance And Buoyancy In Tough Times

It is critical that we stay in a safe place and keep our foundation strong. We dare not pull away from the Father … our strength is in Him alone. When we anchor in Him, we will abide in Him … and there will be no instability or insecurity.

We are perfectly positioned … in balance in every way!

With these things in place, we will experience the ” upward force” of buoyancy.

It really is a matter of position and preparation!

I love this exhortation … “A fresh spirit is surely a buoyant spirit. If you do not have regular dealings before the Lord, your spirit cannot be fresh. A spirit that is not fresh is invariably depressed and is definitely unable to pray. Even if by the exercise of your will you force yourself to utter some words, or you use your mind to think of something to say, it is still futile. Therefore, whether you can pray and how much you can pray, depends upon whether your spirit is depressed or buoyant. This is a real test.” (Lessons on Prayer, by Witness Lee)

We seriously need to get this!

Finding Balance And Buoyancy In Tough Times

I took great pleasure in reading what John Henry Jowett wrote in his article in, My Daily Meditation for the Circling Year …

“When Mrs. Booth, the mother of the Salvation Army, was dying, she quietly said, “The waters are rising but I am not sinking.” But then she had been saying that all through her life. Other floods besides the waters of death had gathered about her soul. Often had the floods been out and the roads were deep in affliction. But she had never sunk! The good Lord made her buoyant, and she rode upon the storm! This, then, is the promise of the Lord, not that the waters of trouble shall never gather about the believer, but that he shall never be overwhelmed. He shall “keep his head above them.” Yes, to him shall be given the grace of “aboveness.” He shall never be under, always above! It is the precious gift of spiritual buoyancy, sanctified good spirits, the power of the Christian hope. When we are in Christ Jesus circumstances shall never be our master. One is our Master, and “we are more than conquerors in Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood.”

What an amazing testimony this is … and such a powerfully spoken word for us to embrace!

Finding Balance And Buoyancy In Tough Times

This is the reality that I am seeking … and I know this is where I want to live!

Honestly, I believe this is where all of us are being called. In times like these, there is no other way for us to thrive.

So, let’s take this on and make it a personal reality. I am in … and you?
