What We Choose To See And To Speak … Is What Will Define The Stand We Take

Making a difference is something that our hearts long for … and this aspirational desire calls out to all of us.

Very early on, we are drawn to individuals who did great things and made a difference by the way they lived their lives.

As a boy, my favorite Sunday School teachers were the ones who told us exciting Bible stories about those who did great exploits. I knew the names of brave ones, the victorious ones … and I dreamed of being like them.

I loved the missionaries who had captivating stories, slides of faraway places and snake skins that they could roll out into full display.

My guess is that these things are true for all of us.

We all dream of what we could do that would have an impact on others and provide us with an opportunity to influence them.

This is a driving passion and much of the time we get entirely caught up in the “dreaming”. We nurture lofty notions and we boldly tell others what we just might do one day.

Our plan is to emulate the lives of those that we have come to admire … and we are certain that we can get this done.

It’s an empowering exercise and it has great merit … but all too often the “dreaming” never gives way to the ” doing”.

Somehow, the aspiration never becomes action … and that is tragic on so many levels.

Here is something that we need to know and hold on to …

The bottom line is that “taking a stand” and “having a plan” is what moves everything forward.

This is how we move from “aspiration” to “action” … and in the doing, the dream we have, will be clarified and confirmed to us.

In the process of “taking our stand” vision develops, values become evident and our voice becomes more confident.

Dreaming matters and at all costs, do not let anyone steal your dream … however, we must also know that “taking a stand” is the demand!
