Unclear Communication Is Unkind … Understand This And Correct It!

Unclear Communication Is Unkind … Understand This And Correct It!
I know how important communication is and have a rather long list of skills and techniques that I know are critically important.

Communication is the lifeline of relational connection … on every level.

With every word, action … or lack thereof, we are communicating and we will see the impact … good or bad … reflected in those that share life with us.

I have just learned a new communication reality from a friend who heard it at a conference. Honestly, I was powerfully impacted by what she said, as soon as she shared it with me.

The concept was quite simple really, “unclear communication is unkind”.

I was so taken by the phrase that I did not even ask how the speaker applied the principle because I was so aware of how this reality would impact my world.

Unclear Communication Is Unkind … Understand This And Correct It!
All of us have the opportunity to build people up or break them down … and how we communicate decides what happens.

Generally, we are too gracious to be unkind … but too many times we willingly tolerate unclear communication.

This is defined in many ways and is often so deeply embedded that we can not even identify it. However, we do see the consequences almost immediately … and we quickly assume that the problem lies in the person, the process or the politics … when in fact it is the presence of unclear communication.

Unclear Communication Is Unkind … Understand This And Correct It!
Unclear communication is the result of talking more than listening, assuming more than asking, speaking at people rather than to them and greatest of all, giving people a piece of your mind rather than responding with wisdom and offering grace.

Unclear communication plagues every type of organization and relationship simply because we lack models for doing it any other way. We will need to be more engaged in making this happen and as we do this, a more empowering culture will emerge.

Marriages, families, churches, workplaces … all of them will be profoundly changed by the impact of this shift!

Unclear Communication Is Unkind … Understand This And Correct It!
I know that is what I want to do … and I want the journey of change to begin right now.

Will you join me?
