Hope Has A Name … First It Is Jesus And Then It Is Us!
Today I heard a song that moved my heart and made me keenly aware of a reality that must forever be ongoing in our hearts … and in our world.
The song is entitled, “Hope Has A Name” … and if you have not heard it, here is a link to the song … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DohShCMjvXI
The song is like an anthem … beckoning us to hear the cry of hope that is revealed in Christ. The echoing message is this …
Hope has a name, His name is Jesus
My Savior’s cross has set this sinner free
Hope has a name, His name is Jesus
Oh, Christ be praised, I have victory
The message of Jesus is a message of sacrificial love, prevailing peace and unending joy. These things we know well … and because these things are true, we can be assured that living, enduring hope can be ours.
Hope Has A Name … First It Is Jesus And Then It Is Us!
This is the message that Peter shared with the exiles in 1 Peter 1:1-4, ” to God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia … in his great mercy He has given you new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.”
In their most fragile and desperate moments, Peter spoke hope into their hearts!
Life was miserable, they had suffered every level of loss and there was no end in sight.
In light of all of this, Peter reminded them … and us that …
Hope Has A Name … First It Is Jesus And Then It Is Us!
The message of hope is secured in Jesus via His work on the cross and His win over death, hell, and the grave!
This we must believe … but there is more that we need to embrace.
Jesus has secured hope for us in a full and final manner … and then we are tasked with sharing hope … to be carriers of hope … and to deliver hope to every man, everywhere!
The hope that Jesus has purchased and provided is now ours to prioritize and proclaim!
Hope Has A Name … First It Is Jesus And Then It Is Us!
This is the great challenge that we face and the greatest call that we must fulfill!
There is no greater message!
Both now and forever … may this be our passionate pursuit.
