I often must remind myself that my greatest task is not to try and define all that is happening around me but to describe what is happening in me … and through me.
External pressures can devour internal peace and damage our spiritual perspective. What protects us and provokes our faith are the everlasting promises of God. We can stand on them knowing that … all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us (2 Corinthians 1:20).
The Faithful Love of God Is Never Out Of Sight … Because This Is What Leads Us To Abundant And Eternal Life
Here is a word of promise that we can embrace in times of despair, or when we feel like we are walking alone in the dark … ”The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV)
In fact, this was the context of all that Jeremiah was experiencing. It seems that Lamentations was written after the fall of Jerusalem. His opening words in chapter 1 are, “How lonely sits the city that was once full of people”.
Jeremiah goes on to describe the devour and desolation. It was a heartbreaking reality for him but in the midst of it all he is reminded of the steadfast love of God … and so should it be for all of us!
The Faithful Love of God Is Never Out Of Sight … Because This Is What Leads Us To Abundant And Eternal Life
We are reminded of the faithful love of God in so many ways.
I love what Lloyd Stilley pointed out in his article, “The Goodness of God”.
He reminds us that we see the faithful love of God in the natural blessings that we are given … “Every relationship, every job, every tree, every taste of food that pleases us, every birdsong, every friend and flower and field are a reminder of His compassion for us”.
He also reminds us God’s kind interventions … God comes to the rescue of those who are frantically searching, He reaches out to those who have seriously rebelled against Him, and He responds out of His goodness to all of those who have given themselves to sin. He heals them and reverses the killing effects of sin in their lives.
When the storms threaten to sink us and we’re at our wit’s end, we can call to Him and see Him command the storms to be still, because He is good.
He’s been there for you, more than you’ll ever know. No matter what situation you’re facing, God is the best Person to take it to. There is no surer source of deliverance or blessing than Him, because He is good all the time.
The Faithful Love of God Is Never Out Of Sight … Because This Is What Leads Us To Abundant And Eternal Life
I just want to commend these words to you and ask that you consider them sincerely and choose to embrace them … and they are indeed words of life … life abundant and eternal!
I know I want to do this … and you?
