There are moments when we need to secure and strengthen specific realities that profoundly impact the vitality and effectiveness of our faith.

It may be that we are being challenged internally by circumstances that take us beyond our faith commitment, or external complications that push us beyond our faith capacity.

Either way, we are keenly aware that we are at risk!

The commitment to building our faith so that we can overcome internal challenges and endure external complications is personal …and it is the piercing call and powerful commandment of the Father to all of us.

Kathryn Shirey, in her article, “10 Ways to Stay Deeply Rooted In Faith” makes this critical observation that we do want to acknowledge,

“Faith in Christ can sustain and protect us through any trial, yet too often we haven’t first grown deep roots in that faith. When the storms come, we are tossed about and wonder what good is our faith anyway.”

This certainly gets to the point for us.

A God-like faith is what we need and that will surely require this from us …

A life of faith is always built on our commitment to walk in truth.

This is the lingering mandate that must become our life-long mission … there simply is no other way to make this happen.

Enduring faith is not based on feelings or forceful declarations … as much as these are often deemed to be matters of “convincing evidence”. These things can actually weaken faith by making it exclusively emotional or declarative.

Enduring faith is founded on truth and will forever be fashioned by His hand!

When this is our foundation, we will be all too willing to accept the work of the Father. Not only that, we will also be on alert to …

▪ acknowledge the danger of beleving a lie
▪ refuse to live in denial
▪ insist on integrity
▪ ardently believe that authenticity matters
▪ be brave enough to tell ourselves the truth
▪ passionately pursue purity

These powerful and positive principles … and a host of other things will live in us because of our decision to say yes!

I love the great promises of Psalm 1 … so I do want to leave them with you.

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither –
whatever they do will prosper. (Psalm 1:1-3)
