There is always something very powerful about intentionally embracing a God-intended mandate and making it an engaged personal action.
The more that we seek to do the will of the Father … the more we experience life as He designed it to be.
One such mandated action is the importance of giving honor where honor is due.
The truth is that the Bible has quite a lot to say about giving honor.
Giving Honor Where Honor Is Due … Never Underestimate This God-Intended Mandate
Got Questions in their article “What Does the Bible Say About Honor” reminds us that … “all true believers are to honor God and His Son, Jesus Christ, through our acknowledgement and confession that He is the one and only God (Exodus 20:3; John 14:6; Romans 10:9). We are to honor God in our recognition that the gift of life eternal and the very salvation of our souls come through Jesus Christ and Him alone (John 11:25; Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5). Knowing this, we give honor and obeisance to our Savior through our humble adoration and obedience to His will (John 14:23-24; 1 John 2:6). As such, He will honor us when He seats us on His throne in heaven.” (Revelation 3:21).
This will forever be our highest calling!
It is giving honor to God that opens the way for us to live a life of honor that will bring great blessing to us and to those around us.
This level of honor makes its own demand of us.
We are aware that the world in which we live does not give to God the honor He deserves and yet we know that He will be praised and honored by all His creation. Romans 14:1 confirms this to us, “As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.”
Our desire is to honor Him openly and freely and to do all we can to make Christ known to all men. This is what makes life all that He intends it to be.
However, there is an extended commitment to giving honor and this is where we are enabled to make a profound impact on the world around us.
Giving Honor Where Honor Is Due … Never Underestimate This God-Intended Mandate
Our call to give honor extends to places and people that are often ignored, forgotten or despised.
Clearly, we are asked to express honor to our parents, the aged, the poor and to those in authority. Additionally, we are to honor one another and to assure that honor is at the very core of our marital relationship.
The commitment to give honor is a daunting call, one that will be difficult to keep in play but in doing this, we reveal our devotion to God and to His Word.
Proverbs 21:21 declares to us that “He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor”
What a powerful promise … and it does reveal that it is in giving honor that we receive the best of all that God has to offer!
Giving Honor Where Honor Is Due … Never Underestimate This God-Intended Mandate
This is ours to embrace and engage … and it matters, it really does!
