Reconnecting With Family And Family Friends Should Be … Fulfilling In So Many Ways

I love any kind of family gathering or reunion.

The atmosphere is life-giving and there is so much laughter, and even more chatter. Stories are flowing, most being told with great animation and the level of pure joy is overwhelming.

In reality, it is the “sense of belonging” that brings all of these things to us.

As I was pondering all of this, I discovered an article from Focus on the Family entitled, “The Purpose of the Family” which was written by various authors. These writers declare openly in this article that … family is the masterpiece of God’s Creation.

I love the way these authors position this reality.

“We know artists by their most important creations: Michelangelo by the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, Beethoven by his “Fifth Symphony,” George Lucas by the Star Wars saga. Each masterpiece reveals something of its creator. The same is true of God. Especially in His design and purpose of the family.”

As we read the early chapters of Genesis, we often stand in awe of all that God has done. His creation was expansive and thus it needed to be executed skillfully.

His creative intent covered it all!

Here is another critical reality that the authors wanted to put in front of us.

Even Christ himself was born within the context of a family. “God in the flesh” submitted to an earthly mom and dad to model what it means to honor parents and to benefit from their loving direction. It was within the nurturing care of His earthly family that “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men” (Luke 2:52).

We learn the most, and in the best kind of way, when we are a part of a great family circle.

This writing team shares one more thing that really matters.

“The more closely we are connected to the people we love, the happier we feel and the more personal satisfaction we have in our lives. Most people rate moments of connection and shared enjoyment with their loved ones as their most important life experiences.”

I know that this is true for me!

I also know that setting another chair at our family table is a special gift. Inviting someone to the table opens the way for them to feel welcomed in. This gentle gesture brings immeasurable blessings to them and to us.

Now may be the best time ever for all of us to do more of this!

I know for sure that we are better together, and my hope and prayer is that we will see the beauty of God and that He will be seen in us.

I am in … and you!
