External Pressures Can Devour Our Eternal Perspective … Now Is The Time To Lift Up Our Eyes!

All of us have been tested on this one.

We all have our moments when external pressure begins to mount up against us. Family instability, job insecurity, physical illness … and an immeasurable number of other issues come our way and we are plunged into an intense crisis of the soul.

We feel overwhelmed, our peace is threatened and we can easily become afraid, anxious, and at-risk on many levels.

In extreme cases, it is quite common to enter into the grip of extreme exaggeration and end up in crippling isolation.

Hard times for sure and the impact of these harsh realities are utterly heartbreaking.

We have all lived this and we know that …

The truth is that when we are under the pressures of an imminent threat we do become so absorbed that our focus is dominated by the pending danger. Our souls are downcast and every expression of faith is being devoured.

It seems like we can almost feel the despair overtaking us.

This is the evil scheme that we are drawn into … over and over again.

It feels dark … but deliverance is possible!

The solution is in deciding to “lift up our eyes”.

We shift our focus and we enlarge our embrace as to what we see and believe!

Randy Alcorn, in his article, “Why An Eternal Perspective Changes Everything”, says it this way, “Living with eternity in mind will infuse us with joy and purpose that can sustain us in daily life, even as we face hard things. Recognizing our future life on a resurrected Earth can help empower us to stick with a difficult marriage, to persevere in the hard task of caring for an ailing parent or child, or to stay with a demanding job. Moses stayed faithful to God because “he was looking ahead to his reward” (Hebrews 11:26).”

Randy goes on to say this, “Having an eternal perspective is in many ways the key to living a true Christ-following life. Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 4:18, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (NIV). If we let this reality sink in, it will forever change the way we think and live.”

All we can say in response to this is, “Amen, Amen, Amen … so be it, Lord!”

There is nothing more important for us personally … and no greater corporate call for the church worldwide.

Current catastrophic events have left the hearts of mankind in crisis.

We dare not succumb to external pressures.

Now is the time for us to “lift up our eyes” … and be in a position to hold fast to our eternal perspective.

Our task is not to explain … but to reveal the unseen.

This is our moment … let’s go for it!

All in, for all of Him!!
